Will the bees come back after removal?

Only if comb residue is left in the cavity. Beeswax contains pheromone compounds that remain detectable to scout bees for years. When we remove a colony, we remove all comb and treat the cavity. A properly remediated site does not attract new swarms. An improperly remediated one does : which is the main risk with DIY removal or spray-only approaches.
